Campus to Corporate Program

Reading Time: 10 minutes.

When you are in senior year of college, you would be subjected to several questions by those around you.

Where are you working?

Are you having a job?

What is your salary?

You know what? That boy’s salary is more. This girl’s salary is more.

In all the commotion, you say “I want to move out of this situation but I don’t know how“.

In case you have to come across any of these situations, you would have experienced extreme stress and anxiety in your job search.

This stress and anxiety alone could be a huge obstacle in finding the right job for yourself.

In case you are looking for guidance in getting the right job as early as possible, then this program is for you.

Mental well-being and job:

Studies have shown that when people see the positive results that can be accomplished with their skills and unique behaviour, their mental and emotional well-being becomes increasingly healthy.

On the other hand, a decrease in self-confidence, self-esteem and other mental health issues are connected to unemployment.

If your job is waiting for you somewhere, you are lucky. There are many well-qualified persons without a job or enough money for a single square meal. So if your job is waiting for you somewhere you are very lucky.

Present job market:

Getting a job is a not so easy task nowadays. There is huge competition for the same job.

Sometimes there is a very small difference between persons getting selected in the job interview and not getting selected. This happens irrespective of skills or fitness for the job.

When the situation is like this, we must use every opportunity to impress at all possible stages. Doesn’t it?

With a little effort we can also get the necessary skills to get multiple job offers.

To become job-ready we need to have some essential soft skills and preparedness.

Some of the common preparation are listed below:

  • Effective resume building.
  • Effective Cover Letter writing.
  • Interview Preparation.
  • Professional Ethics and Code of Conduct.

Some of the soft skills required are:

  • Group Discussion and Team Building Skills.
  • Persuasion and Influencing Skills.
  • Negotiation and Conversational Skills.

Since the skills required are detailed in nature, I thought of formulating in module format.

Level – 1:

Level 1, is all about mental preparation.

It is important to start the course with the right mindset. In case you have any fear, it is best to eliminate it or reduce its intensity right in the beginning.

The success of the course largely depends on how you are prepared to start and work consistently thoughout, to complete it.

Removing mental blocks and fear at the beginning gives you a positive head start in completing the course and ensures a higher chance of success in your job placement.

  • Module – 1: Beliefs, Values and Identity.
  • Module – 2: Beating Fear, Procrastination and Becoming Resilient.

Level – 2:

Level 2, is about effective resume building, writing a proper covering letter and successfully completing the interview.

Effective resume is one which markets you well and brings you to the interview table. It increases your chance of getting selected.

When it comes to facing the interview, even experienced candidates face a big challenge. Therefore this module is designed to address all that and when you complete Level 2, you will gain a lot of confidence in facing the interview. This will result in higher success rates in converting to jobs.

  • Module – 1: Resume Building and Covering Letter Writing.
    • What is a Resume?
    • Why a Resume is Important?
    • What are the different types of a resume?
    • What are the different models in the resume?
    • Which is the best suitable model for you?
    • How to do SWOT analysis for building a Resume with right keywords?
    • What is a Covering Letter?
    • Why is Covering Letter important?
    • The base structure of a Covering Letter.
    • Case Study examples.
    • Practice Worksheets.
  • Module – 2: Interview Preparation.
    • What is an Interview?
    • What is an Interview Process?
    • What are the common interview questions?
    • What is the rationality behind asking those questions?
    • How to prepare answers for them?
    • Interview Checklist.
    • Model Interviews.
    • Practice worksheets.
  • Module – 3: Job Search Method

Level – 3:

Level 3 is about soft skills.

When a company selects candidates based on their performance in group discussion, they are in fact checking a lot of things in a candidate. Some of the things are directly asked but some are observed and noted.

Some of the things which a company may look out are attitude, cultural fit for the organisation, proficiency in communication, team building skills etc. This module aims to give some exposure on this higher level of soft skills.

  • Module – 1: Conversation and Communication Skills.
    • Difference between conversation and communication skills.
    • Barriers in conversation and barriers in communication.
    • Effective communication strategy.
    • How to make good documentation?
    • Practice worksheets.
  • Module – 2: Group Discussion & Team Building.
    • What is a group discussion?
    • what is the purpose of group discussion?
    • Etiquettes of Group Discussion.
    • Common topics of Group discussion and quick prompts.
    • How to build rapport within the team?
    • How to appreciate and provide feedback?
    • How to handle criticism?
    • How to practice group discussion skills and improve?

Level – 4:

Level 4 is about gaining real world experience.

In case of a corporate working culture, you may need to interact with different levels of people at various stages. This will be the daily norm rather than exception. Therefore everyday people handling skills, needs to be imbibed well. It needs a lot of practice.

When you learn all the important concepts in the previous levels, you definitely need to implement it, receive feedback and grow. Action – Feedback is the only way to learn and grow. This module aims to provide this important missing element.

Event management is one division where we can learn a lot things in a single batch. Things move fast, therefore we can learn from our mistakes and correct it quickly in the next.

When we work in 3 or 4 batches, we can gain a considerable real world exposure. We can gain experience in handling the expectations of clients, sponsors, and patrons.

There is a lot of scope to fine tune our sales, problem solving, decision making, finance, and project management skills.

You would gain hands on experience in various operations of event management, therefore this is an internship based model.

From conducting precision surveys, pricing, marketing, planning, executing, and successfully completing an event, you would gain experience in each and every division.

  • Internship I – Resilience Development Project.
Resilience Development project: Effective Communication, Keystone Habits, Event Management, Strong Networking and Effective Team Building.
Mind Map containing Resilience DEvelopment project.

Level – 5:

This level is designed to help you understand the perspective of your superiors. Here you will be asked to administer multiple events from a single point of contact.

Therefore you would gain a lot of co-ordination & communication skills, decision making, planning and execution skills.

I assure you, this module will save you a lot of time and energy when you start to work in the corporate sector.

  • Internship II – Administration.

Level – 6:

This is the final module. When you are in a position to be promoted, you expect that to happen immediately, right?

It will be really frustrating when your well deserving promotion involves waiting for a junior to acquire some basic skill set. Right?

So i order to increase the chance of getting promoted quickly you need to start helping your juniors and still completing your responsibilities. When you do it, you would be seen as a natural leader.

It would be easy for your employers to assign you a leadership role. You can gain skills and experience, but you can only be promoted when someone is there to do the less important tasks.

It will be really important task for the youngster but not for you anymore.

This module is designed to give you an opportunity to correct your past mistakes. It gives you an opportunity to give the right guidance to your juniors. This activity is called as Mentoring and it will always be a win-win situation for all.

  • Mentoring.

When you complete all the six levels of this course you would have gained considerable experience which the interviewers and employers find it useful. The chances of you getting selected over other candidates now becomes a lot higher than earlier.

How the course is going to be delivered?

The course will contain videos, reading materials and worksheets.

Peer support group will be formed and monitored for any help.

Support will be given through email, facebook messenger and whatsapp.

How the course is going to be evaluated?

The entire course is based on peer evaluation model. Your progress in each module will be evaluated by your peers. The average value will be indicated against each module certificate. This is scientifically proven to be the precise and acceptable for the particular batch

A course completion certificate with all the details of your progress against the batch average will be displayed in the certificate itself.

The employer is always eager to pick up a candidate who appears to the interview with a certain degree of preparation.

This way your employer will know how you respond to training.

The ability to showcase your learning ability is as important as learning itself. Therefore your chances of getting selected for the post against someone who the employer is not sure about the learning ability, is always higher.

How to use NLP Frames and create SMART Goals?

Reading Time: 7 minutes.

It was a long time you watched a movie with your friends. Somehow your movie-going along with your friends got delayed for long. It was so long that one of the weekends, you really wanted to go and watch a movie, no matter what.

So you quickly get ready and started for your favourite movie place. You call your friends and ask them to be at the theatre directly.

Your favourite movie place is a multiplex where you had watched a lot of movies. You also had a lot of fond memories there.

The multiplex has a number of screens. Each one with a different movie, different hall capacity, ambience, facilities and timings.

Since it was a weekend, there is a possibility of the tickets getting sold out fast. You are the nearest to the place so your friends ask you to buy tickets.

When you reach there, you see a lot of crowd. Suddenly you feel that the tickets could sell out faster than expected, so you need to make your decision quickly.

You start searching for the movies. You are unable to decide based on the titles of the movies, so you search for their genres. The genre of the movie gives you an idea about what kind of a movie it is.

NLP Frames can be applied in the above situation. NLP Frames gives you the much-needed direction towards the thinking process. Using it gives you much more clarity than not using it.

Let us see the different types of NLP Frames.

Types of NLP Frames:

  1. Outcome Frame.
  2. As-If Frame.
  3. Open Frame.
  4. Ecology Frame.
  5. Evidence Frame.
  6. Positive Frame.
  7. Backtrack Frame.

1. Outcome Frame:

While making a decision to watch the movie, you searched for the genre, ambience, timing, location of seats etc.

You wanted to enjoy some humour so that was the genre and you had a discussion with your friends through the phone to decide about the time, number of tickets to be purchased and other things.

Outcome frame provides a focus on your objective or what you want to achieve. It also takes into account the effects of achieving the objective and the resources required to achieve it.

2. As – If Frame:

You wanted to give a surprise to one of your friends. So you think As-If you were him.

You make your decision based on his favourite actors, “If I were him, I would like to see this actor”. So you bought tickets for that particular movie.

You can use the As-If Frame in many situations. Many problems can be solved creatively by thinking ‘As-If’ something had occurred, not occurred, present, not present, available, not available, solvable, not solvable etc.

3. Open Frame:

While returning, you were discussing about the film you just watched. You were discussing your favourite scene, the characterisation and the story. You were comfortable with the company so you are not filtering your opinions. This is Open Frame.

This frame of thinking can be used while building rapport and can be applied in various situations like brainstorming, training etc.

4. Ecology Frame:

A few of your friends have some plans later in the day. So you plan the time of the movie accordingly. This action helped your friends and they appreciate you for your clear thinking.

This is Ecology Frame of thinking and this will be helpful to you in keeping relationship healthy.

Ecology Frame is considering the effect on the immediate subsystem.

5. Evidence Frame.

You are determined to help your friend who has an important meeting later in the evening. So you check his plan, end time of the movie and the commute time required to reach his place.

With all this evidence, you inform him how this plan is good. He is now happy. You all watched the movie happily together. It was a wonderful day for you.

The Evidence frame is used as a gauge to assess your progress towards your objective. Therefore you will know if corrective action is necessary or not.

If the collected evidence is strong, you can check whether the outcome must be modified or not depending upon the time available.

6. Positive Frame:

Some of your friends say the movie was not worth the money. But a few of your friends come up with beautiful spin up for the boring scenes.

You enjoyed like crazy.

While returning home, you know that the positive outcome of all the expenses is a wonderful experience with your friends. This is ‘Positive Frame’ of thinking.

7. Backtrack Frame.

When you finished seeing the movie, you start your planning for the next trip. But a few of your friends have some commitments for the day and they excused themselves. You later backtracked them about the plans and helped them land on the same page as yours.

Each person understands information differently and may come to significantly different conclusions.

Backtracking is a way to make sure everyone has the same understanding of what is discussed or decided.

Application of NLP Frames:

NLP frames can be applied in a lot of situations. Some of them are decision making, formulating a response, creating SMART Goals etc.

Let’s see how NLP Frames can be applied for creating SMART Goals.

SMART is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant and Time-Bound.

When we think in Outcome frame we can easily come up with a very Specific Objective.

When we think in Evidence frame we can come up with Measurable results.

When we think in Ecology frame, we can come up with Actionable activities that can be completed daily. Also the Objective, Actions, Evidence and time measurements will be made more Relevant to you.

Here we have seen about the NLP Frames and its applications. There is Outcome Frame, As-If Frame, Open Frame, Ecology Frame, Evidence Frame, Positive Frame and Backtrack Frame.

We have also seen how we can connect the NLP Frames while creating SMART Goals. Connecting NLP Frames with SMART Goals gives us more clarity and the objective can be achieved easily.

Planning My First Course

Reading Time: 11 minutes.

Hi, I am planning to create a Course which I think would be useful for young graduates and freshers in search of a job. It could even help middle level professionals to some extent.

I am planning to launch this course by the first week of August 2020.

When you complete this course, you can increase the possibility of landing a lucrative job in a prestigious company.

In addition, you can easily negotiate the tough times in searching for the job as well.

Your valuable suggestions and comments are welcome.

The Corona Effect:

Every major happening in the world, drastically changes the patterns of every industry, every sector and the daily habit of humans.

This Covid – 19 or Corona effect is no exception.

People and jobs will demand a different set of characteristic traits and different set of skills from you.

But when you have strong and good values, you will be wanted everywhere, provided you have the basic skill requirements.

This course is focussed on Values and skills.

About the Course:

This course is Campus to Corporate Program.

The young graduates need guidance and exposure. The right guidance at the right time, with some good exposure, will do a lot of wonders for you.

How many times have you expected someone to help you in times of need?

How many times have you expected someone to teach you without holding anything back?

This course will help you learn without holding anything back.

The need of the hour is real world exposure in handling people, communication, completion of projects and the exposure to make money as well as saving it. It can only be gained through experience and is called as active learning.

Keeping all this in mind, I am planning for a comprehensive course which will be both online and offline with full of active learning.

This course will be usefull to you regardless of your educational background. You could be in any stream of engineering, arts, science, or interested in digital marketing, content writing, photography or any other job you want to pursue.

We will explore all the strengths and improve it through the course.

There will be colloboration, execution and learning all the while making some money. 🙂

The course is divided into various Levels and each level has some modules.
